How have you calculated the metrics for Recharge Review?
Recharge Review is an annual “wrap up” that looks at the stats and data of drivers using the Shell Recharge network with one of, or both, a Shell Recharge charge card and app. As the year comes to a close, we like to reflect on the collective achievements of us as a community. Where possible, we have defined our exact audience, below are some assumptions and data sources:
- Data taken from EU only (including the UK and Ireland).
- We used first-party data taken from the Shell Recharge public charging network.
- As a general rule, we do not include third-party. We do not have access to this data. Most numbers you see includes data from our MSP and vMSP (Shell Recharge) cards.
- Customers (registered app users) + YoY increase = Registered users who have logged into the app at least once.
- Number of public charging sessions + YoY increase = Processed, normal sessions only. Only MSP and vMSP charge cards (no third-party charged).
- Number of first-time public charge sessions + YoY increase = Finding all the first-time public charging sessions that were initiated using a Shell Recharge card ( ie only MSP and vMSP charge cards).
- Number of charge points in the roaming network = EU Roaming network only.
- Total number of kwh = All public charging sessions, using only MSP and vMSP charge cards (no third-party charge cards).
- Total number of kwh = Processed, normal sessions only. Only including our network charge points (no third-party charge points). Plus, only including sessions with our Shell Recharge charge card (no third-party charge cards).
- Most popular charge site = Only looking at Shell Recharge owned and operated network charge points. For this one we have included third-party charge cards to show our public charging locations that are popular to all users.
- Most popular country and city = Based on number of charge sessions.
- Most popular charging day = Based on number of charge sessions.
- We calculated the distance traveled by using an average EV consumption rate per mile. Efficient EVs can achieve up to 4 miles per kwh. Due to the inherent variability in factors like vehicle type and weight, our calculation offers a rough estimate rather than an exact measurement of EV efficiency. Therefore calculation = kwh * 4 = miles driven.
- Distance to the moon = 238,855 miles.
