Shell Recharge home chargers come with a standard Type 2 socket to connect the charging cable to the EV. Type 2 socket is the European and UK standard and can be found at most public charging stations.

How do I get a Shell Recharge EV charger installed in my home?

Confirm charge point needs
Our friendly and experienced home charger experts will discuss your desired setup and provide a quote. They will also schedule an installation date and time that is convenient for you.
Step 3
Let Connect bring charge to your home
Our experienced installation partners will mount your charge point and connect it to your mains power supply. It takes approximately half a day to install the charge point. Just make sure you have the Connect app installed on your phone so it can be configured and ready to charge right away.

How to balance the electrical load in your home with Connect
To charge at optimal power and harmoniously adjust the load, add Dynamic Power Management to your Connect. The Connect will continuously communicate with the DPM module, constantly measuring the energy used by your household appliances and dynamically adjusting the charge speed of your car. This means you can always charge at maximum speed, without the risk of overloading your connection. Our installers will configure the Connect in such a way that your maximum speed doesn't hamper your household. Handy if you simultaneously use devices in the house that use a lot of power.
DPM comes at an extra cost but in most cases, it spares you the expense of upgrading your grid connection. Upgrading your grid connection will cost you a one-off installation payment as well as additional monthly payments. The cost depends on your network operator and your home situation.

Connect is compatible with all EV brands
Shell Recharge Connect charge points come with a standard Type 2 plug. This means that they are compatible with all current EV models via its Type 2 charging cable. Whether you want to charge your Tesla, Hyundai IONIQ, or a Nissan LEAF, your Connect has it covered.

Activation and onboarding is easy with the Connect by Shell Recharge app. Once you have downloaded the app, you will be prompted to activate your charge point by adding the ID-CODE. You can find this on the pamphlet that is in the box. Once you have activated it, you can connect your charge point to Bluetooth. Stand close to your charge point whilst you enable the connection.

You will be able to charge with speeds up to 7.4 kW with a single-phase electrical supply. Some homes in the UK allow up to 22 kW on three-phase electrical supplies, but this is very uncommon. The Connect charge point comes with a Type 2 socket. You can have the standard, universal cable or select a tethered cable for which you can choose between a 5m or 7.5m length.
To get the best experience from your Connect, we recommend that you only pair it to one mobile device at a time. When you connect two devices, it can interfere with the Bluetooth connection.
Automatic reimbursement of home charging costs is only available with the Shell Recharge Advanced charge point, and only if your charge card is issued by your employer. Once you've activated your home charge point in the online user platform, you can set up automatic reimbursement. All you have to do is fill in your energy tariff and add the bank account you want to get reimbursed on - we'll take care of the rest.
First we ask you to build your perfect charge point, selecting the characteristics you desire and answer a few simple questions about your home and EV. After submitting this, we then send you a link to our online installation survey where, with the help of our experts, you will provide us with a bit more information on your home setup. Based on the information you provide, our experienced home charger experts will review your specific setup and needs. After discussing details with you, we will design the best solution, and you will receive a personalised, tailor made quote. Once you accept the quote, we will schedule an installation date and time that is convenient for you.
Installation of our home charge points is always completed by one of our certified installation partners.
Yes, you can decide who has access to your charge point. Using the Connect by Shell Recharge app you can set access either to public (open to all), or provide access to certain charge card numbers. If you are the only user, you can also enable AutoCharge, by using this feature the charge point immediately starts charging after you plug in your EV, so you don't need to swipe your card.
No, installation of our home charge points needs to be completed by one of our certified installers.
The standard warranty on all our charge points, accessories and installations are 2 years. With the OZEV grant, this is extended by another year, making a total of 3 years warranty on all products.
