Nissan Netherlands and Shell Recharge Solutions join forces to provide convenience to EV drivers
Shell Recharge Solutions and Nissan have teamed up to facilitate the transition to electric transport (EV) in the Netherlands.
Amsterdam, March 30, 2023 - Shell Recharge Solutions, a global player in smart EV charging solutions, and Nissan, a pioneer in electric mobility, today announced they are teaming up to facilitate the transition to electric transport (EV) in the Netherlands. The companies are joining forces to provide more convenience to Nissan customers with a complete, electric mobility solution. Nissan dealers across the Netherlands will now offer home charging solutions from - and installed by - Shell Recharge Solutions installed.
A complete electric offering
When consumers choose a Nissan EV at one of the 55 official Nissan dealers in the Netherlands, they can arrange everything in one go: from the electric vehicle to the home charge point, including installation.
Everything to be well prepared for the road and carefree charging. By purchasing a Shell Recharge charge point to charge at home, EV drivers have various functionalities at their disposal, such as an AutoCharge function and smart charging. With AutoCharge, a charging session begins as soon as an EV driver plugs in. Through smart charging functions, a charging session can be scheduled, for example, when the vehicle is not in use or during "off-peak hours" when demand on the grid is low and energy is cheaper. In addition, thanks to the Dynamic Power Management module, EV drivers can ensure that the available power capacity is optimally distributed and the electricity grid is not overloaded.
A positive step toward realising ambitions
The cooperation builds on the ambitions of both companies: Shell Recharge Solutions aims to operate at least 2.5 million charging points by 2030, while Nissan expects to have 19 electric vehicle models on the market by 2030. With the new partnership, the companies are taking a positive step to achieve their ambitions and help make the transition to e-mobility an easier one for EV drivers.
Herman Keijsers, Director International Sales and Integration at Shell Recharge Solutions Europe, says: "We are in the midst of the transition to electric mobility, facing several challenges. For example, our EV Driver Survey published last year showed that there is still a lot of charging anxiety among Dutch drivers. In order to meet these kinds of challenges, we will have to work closely and intensively together in the chain in the coming years. That is why I am proud of the cooperation we are entering into with Nissan. Together we can unburden prospective EV drivers by also arranging their home charging solution when they buy a new EV. With this, we want to not only ease but also accelerate the transition to EVs."
David Milan, Country Director Nissan Netherlands, commented, “The partnership between Shell Recharge Solutions and Nissan fits seamlessly within our Nissan Ambition 2030 plan, of which further democratising electric driving is a key component. With the launch of the new, 100% electric crossover ARIYA and the commercial vehicle TOWNSTAR EV, in addition to the already successful LEAF, we have significantly expanded our EV offering in 2022. In doing so, we notice that more and more customers are asking for a home charging solution. By partnering with Shell Recharge Solutions, we can offer a strong and attractive offering that meets all customer requirements. The experience and quality of Shell Recharge Solutions enable us to offer an all-in-one solution through our extensive dealer network."
