Frequently asked questions about CarPlay and Android Auto
CarPlay lets you screen share your Shell Recharge app on to the display screen of your car. Sync all the functionality from the app onto the dashboard, for safe, smoother and smarter driving.
The benefit of the new CarPlay and Android Auto feature is the “hands-free” functionality. All the features you’re used to in the Shell recharge app can be synced from your phone to your car screen, so you can focus on the road. Locate a charge point, filter what you want based on speed, connector type & availability and let the map navigate you on screen. You can even save and favourite your local and commonly used charge points for easy access.
- Plug your phone into the screen with your cable
- Make sure sign you are signed in to the app and open it on the car screen
- Locate a charge point based on your criteria
- Click on the name of the charge point you want or, swipe the screen up, so you can see the detailed information such as the connector type and charging speed
- Once you have chosen your charge point, select the map app you will use to navigate there (Google or Apple maps)
Functionally it is the same as using the app as it just mirrors the screens. So use it how you would use the Shell Recharge app.

The app functionality works exactly the same, as you would any other time you find a charge point. The only difference is that you operate it on the car dashboard screen.

- On the car screen, open and sign in to the Shell Recharge app
- Locate a charge point based on your criteria
- On the car screen, click on the name of the charge point you want or swipe the screen up, so you can see the detailed information, such as the connector type and charging speed
- At the top of the screen, just underneath the address, you will see a hyperlink that says “directions”
- When you click this, you will be asked which map app you would like to use
- Your chosen map will then open and direct you to the specific charge point.
